They seemed to be written by someone experiencing it not just watching. The part where he says "F*** this place." Or how dying seemed to be moving to the bottom of the list as the worst thing that could happen. I like your roommates theory but I felt the notes were very personal to Miles perspective. That crazy doctor didn't like father Martin at all (the one who cut off Miles fingers). Father Martin appears to have had many followers, some completely devoted and others who would easily turn to their own devices the minute father Martin turned his back. As far as the brothers were concerned, I think they were cannibals and only curbed their "desires" because they held some type of belief/respect for Father Martin (drank his Kool-Aid). I think Father Martin knows this and why he kept remarking about how relieved he was that Chris didn't kill Miles yet and why Father Martin was always hiding, staying ahead of Walker. I'll find all you whores.") It doesn't sound like he has anything personal against Miles he just goes around and kills everyone that could potentially let the Walrider escape. The fact that he shows up everywhere Miles goes and the quotes he says throughout the game ("I'll find you, little pig. It appears that Chris Walker, having had a military background is trying to contain it. ![]() Evidence would suggest that Father Martin has been trying to release the Walrider by finding it a new "vessel". That's my take on it, anyway.Ĭhris Walker was ex-military. The perspective was simply shifting from Mile's body to the blackness of the swarm. The entire game was a first person perspective game. That was the transition of the fade to black with the sounds. But his mind stayed alive and given the new powers of the Walrider, is now bent on inflicting the same pain and horror he was subjected to since the beginning of the game. Releasing all fear of death (accepting and, in a sense, grateful) for being shot and putting an end to this nightmare allowed his consciousness to release from his body and fuse fully with the Walrider. I think the fear, coupled with the fact that he started out as a sane person (the project had only used psychopaths before) and the constant near death experience, Miles finally unhinged his consciousness from his body. Hence, father Martin needed to prepare it a fresh sacrifice. Billy was too far gone and imprisoned (plus rapidly aging) and therefore would not survive long as its current host. The Walrider is a collective swarm of nanites that can only remain cohesive with the consciousness of a living entity. ![]() But in order to "prepare" him, he had to witness the horrors of Mount Massive as only someone who had witnessed death can control the Walrider. Basically, "father" Martin wanted Miles to be a vessel. I also get why Wernicke had Miles shot (to keep the secret in Mount Massive). I get that the Walrider inhabited Miles because Billy was dying. ![]() My interpretation of the ending was slightly different.
